Tropical Rejuvenation
If you couldn’t tell by now, we’re pretty obsessed with pineapple. We’re wearing and decorating with cute pineapple swag, eating it for dinner in our Pineapple Fried Rice, as dessert with this Pineapples Foster recipe, AND of course, sipping on some delicious Pineapple Punch.
Turns out pineapple isn’t only great to eat – It’s great for our skin, too! Jenné Claiborne from Sweet Potato Soul is sharing with us her favorite way to use pineapple… on her face!
Here’s what Jenné has to say about her complexion-boosting Pineapple Face Mask.
Luscious and tropical pineapple is full of a very special enzyme called bromelain which is great for your digestion and for your skin. When applied topically to the skin, it helps to remove dead skin cells and even out your complexion. It’s especially helpful for reducing dark marks and acne scarring.
Turmeric is a star at reducing inflammation, and contributing to a healthy glow. One of its super powers is drying out zits.
The lemon in this mask helps to reduce dark marks from acne scarring. Use this mask every 1-2 weeks to create smooth and even skin. If you have sensitive skin, spot treat this mask before using it on your entire face.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
2 Tbsp fresh pineapple, mashed well with a fork
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
MAKE YOUR MASK:
Mash the ingredients together in a small bowl, and apply to freshly cleaned and dry skin.
Let it sit on your skin for 10 minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
Apply some aloe vera to the skin after using this mask to cool the skin back down.
Mild redness and tingling is common when using an enzyme mask like this one. That’s a sign that the pineapple is doing the work.
