TO REVIVE THAT SUN-DAMAGED HAIR
The Summer weather (think sunshine + humidity) sure does take a toll on our hair, but don’t stress out, we’re here to help!
We’ve talked Winter Remedies in previous months, but with the Summer sunshine comes a whole new set of problems.
We love swimming in the ocean and soaking up some rays during the Summer heat, but sometimes your hair can take a beating from all that extra attention – dehydration, dryness, discoloration and tangles, yuck!
We searched high and low for the best DIY remedies to get our hair back in shape. Check out some of our fav findings below!
Noticing the Summer sun also taking it’s toll on your skin? Don’t fret! We also have solutions for getting back your perfect Summer Skin glow.
REJUVENATION
Sometimes Summer hair just needs a good boost. We love this mask because the bananas and avocados help repair and hydrate with vitamin B and potassium, while lemon juice gives a kick of shine.
DIY:
Combine 1 ripe banana, ½ avocado, and some lemon juice into a blender and blend until smooth.
Apply the mixture evenly into sections of your hair.
Put your hair into a bun or a shower cap, and let it sit for about 30 minutes.
Rinse and wash for rejuvenated hair.
SHINE AND FRIZZ
If you’re looking for a super easy hair solution, you’ll love this remedy for dry, frizzy hair. Coconut oil is great for stimulating hair growth by getting deep into the follicles and moisturizing dry hair. On top of that, it adds shine and softness to your hair!
DIY:
Place 2 tablespoons of coconut oil into your palm and rub your hands together to evenly spread.
Run your fingers through your hair from the roots all the way to the ends.
Massage into your hair, focusing mainly on the ends.
Leave in for about 20 minutes.
Rinse and wash for sleek hair, or just use a tiny amount as a leave in smoother!
*BONUS: We love using coconut oil all over our bodies, too!
DULLNESS
Often during the Summer, it seems like our hair begins to fade. Don’t freak! We have the perfect solution for you. Almond milk plays a key role in helping improve hair and skin pigmentation. Almonds are packed with protein and iron, which enhance the repair and growth process. This will give your dull hair the boost it needs!
DIY:
Peel and mash an avocado into a bowl and add 2 tablespoons almond milk and 3 tablespoons of avocado oil.
Thoroughly mix the ingredients.
Evenly distribute the mixture through your hair.
Leave in for about 30 minutes.
Rinse and wash to revive colored and untreated hair alike.
NOURISHING
This amazing nourishing mask uses pure maple syrup! Why maple syrup you ask? Your head isn’t breakfast food… Turns out maple syrup has great absorption and moisture-retaining properties great for hair.
DIY
Mash together ½ avocado and 1 banana into a small bowl.
Mix in 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, 3 tablespoons almond milk, and 3 tablespoons avocado oil, and stir to combine.
Apply the mixture to your hair, using a comb to evenly distribute.
Leave in for about 15 minutes.
Rinse and wash for super hydrated and nourished hair and scalp.
