One of our favorite (and definitely most entertaining) regulars at by CHLOE. is The Foodie Magician. You may have seen him on Rachel Ray, or doing some tricks at your fav NYC restaurant.
We sat down with Josh Beckerman, The Foodie Magician, to learn more about his magic, love of food, and maybe a little bit more.
By CHLOE.: Introduce yourself.
The Foodie Magician: I’m Josh Beckerman, The Foodie Magician. I’m an Entertainer (magician/mentalist/comedian) who entertains around the world, and eats out at restaurants all day and all night long, every day.
bC: When did you know you wanted to be a magician?
FM: Since I was 5.
bC: What was your first magic trick?
FM: A magic box my dad got me.
bC: What is a “foodie” magician?
FM: It’s not what is “a”, but who is THE “Foodie Magician.” There is only one in the World! I’m a magician/comedian who eats at restaurants all day. I love to entertain. I love to eat. It’s all I do. And I love it!
bC: What’s your signature trick?
FM: Guessing people’s favorite restaurants, or restaurants they like a lot that they think of, and then I read their minds.
bC: Were you always passionate about food?
FM: Yes, I started eating sushi at the age of 3. Does that make me a “foodie”? Maybe. But, I’ve been passionate about food since an early age.
bC: Who is the most memorable person you “foodie magished”?
FM: There have been a lot…thousands. But, appearing on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” is up there, and in fact, that’s where I coined the term “foodie magished”!
bC: What is your best advice for amateur or aspiring magicians?
FM: Have fun. Practice the craft. Perform. Perform. Perform. It’s all about the delivery.
bC: What are your top 5 favorite restaurants in NYC?
FM: I have a top 100 favorite restaurants. But besides by CHLOE., I go to Café Mogador often. I love Tasty Hand Pulled Noodles in Chinatown. I love the vibe, crowd, and people involved at Lure. ABC Kitchen never disappoints. Last year Kiki’s won my heart for their laid back great Greek fare. But I have so many more on the list!
bC: What’s your favorite dish at by CHLOE.?
FM: I like a lot of dishes, but the Guac Burger made me a fan of a non-meat burger for the first time.
bC: What does “Eat well. Eat with purpose.” Mean to you?
FM: It means go to by CHLOE. as much as possible.

12. Hosting a dinner with 4 people (dead or alive), who would you invite? Robin Williams, Anthony Bourdain, Aziz Ansari, my soulmate (I haven’t found her yet)
