There are some pretty awesome ways to mix up your recipes by swapping in a Non-Wheat Flour that have some awesome flavors, textures and even health benefits plus are ALL GLUTEN FREE!

 

1. Almond Flour

We have learned Almonds are pretty terrific nuts from our #IDKANCDT post, but did you know about Almond Flour? It’s probably the easiest alternative flour to use, and you can make it at home. Use Almond Flour in your baking recipes to make cookies, pancakes, and even in our Almond Tart Shells.

2. Chickpea Flour

Chickpea Flour is another great alternative to wheat flour and is a really great option for savory dishes. High in protein, fiber, and iron, Chickpea Flour is a healthier pick to stock your pantry. Plus, Chickpea Flour is much less expensive than Almond Flour. Use it in pizza dough, pasta, and or our very own Falafel Sliders with Avocado Hummus.

3. Coconut flour

Following 2016 food trends, coconut is going to be HOTTT this year. Coconut Oil hit its stride last year, but now Coconut Flour is getting some serious love. Coconut is naturally high in protein, fiber, and healthy fats, but does not mix in perfect proportion to grain-based flours because it’s denser, so take special note in subbing it into your fav recipes. Use Coconut Flour to make breads, cookies, and try in our Apple Crisp.

FUN FACT: Did you know Banana Flour is a thing? Flour made from green bananas are gaining ground in paleo diets because it is a resistant starch. Look out for Banana Flour to make an appearance in your food this year. Ch-ch-check it out!
