Summer is the season of tomatoes!
Heirloom tomatoes seeds have been passed down over generations, hence the name “heirloom”. Today, there are more than 100 varieties of heirloom tomatoes such as Sun Golds, Golden Eggs, Jersey Devels, Black Krims and Green Zebras to name a few.
This seemingly ordinary recipe turns the classic hors d’oeuvre into a gorgeous party favorite. Select tomatoes in a variety of colors make this dish a sight for sore eyes.

INGREDIENTS
6 slices multigrain bread
3 thinly sliced heirloom tomatoes
freshly ground pepper
olive oil
sea salt

PREP
Preheat oven to broil and set to high.
METHOD
Place bread slices on a baking sheet and brush with olive oil, broil for 1 to 2 minutes, checking frequently until lightly browned.
Fan tomato slices on toast and drizzle olive oil on top.
Season with sea salt and freshly ground pepper.
NOTES + SERVING TIPS
Serve immediately.
Purchase bread that is nice and charred on the edges for the perfect crunch and smoky flavor.
